The Rescuers of the Snails @ National Theatre "Marin Sorescu" Craiova
SALA I.D. SÂRBU
by Bogdan-Cristian Drăgan
How much of himself does an actor leave on stage after each performance? How much of a role lingers within him once the makeup is gone? Three sisters, actresses, a brother, also an actor, a father, an astronomy professor, and a mother, a famous actress, along with a psychotherapist—these are the characters of the tragicomedy "The Rescuers of the Snails."
This play is a tribute to theater—whether on stage or in a film studio—but also to life itself, which at times proves to be more powerful than any fictional creation.
The actors perform, but they also play with the audience in a whirlwind of humorous and tragic events that make one wonder whether they are watching a theater performance or witnessing the real lives of those portraying the characters. But don’t be deceived: nothing is as it seems.
